25th MINSK INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL “LISTAPAD” WILL TAKE PLACE FROM 2nd TILL 9th NOVEMBER [ru]

The main film event in Belarus Minsk International Film Festival “Listapad” will celebrate its quarter-century anniversary in November. Screenings of films from the former communist bloc countries – forum’s concept is focused on this region in particular – will be held from 2nd till 9th November in Minsk. Today, the team is engaged in competition programs forming, which will last till 9th September.

Minsk International Film Festival is one of the most iconic cultural events of Belarus. About 150 films from more than 50 counties take part in the “Listapad” competition annually, out-of-competition programs include some of the most significant feature films and documentaries of the year, award-winners of prime international film festivals. Among others, so-called National Competition is formed, which conveys the character of the modern Belarussian cinematography.

“Listapad” is accredited by the International Federation of Film Producers Association (FIAPF) as a competition festival for films from the Baltics, Central Asia, Central and Eastern Europe. The International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) Award is also presented since the last year. “Listapad” features in the list of the most prestigious film forums, such as worldwide famous Berlin, Venice, and Warsaw Film Festivals.

At different times, Minsk Film Festival has had as guests Fanny Ardant, Claire Denis, Andrey Zvyagintsev, Emir Kusturica, Krzysztof Zanussi, Brillante Mendoza, Denis Côté, Sergei Loznitsa and other film figures. About 40,000 cinemagoers and more than 100 guests from around the world attend MIFF “Listapad” every year.

Industrial Platform Bel:Cinema events are held within the festival, they are aimed at communication between the cinematography professionals, experience exchange, and development of means of cooperation between filmmakers and producers taking into account specific features of regions.

The founders of the Minsk International Film Festival are Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus and Minsk City Executive Committ.
